The trail runs most of its route along the Acequia de Tímar-Lobras (Canal of Tímar-Lobras) also called Acequia de los Castaños (Canal of the Chestnut trees) because of the amount of chestnut trees that follow its journey. In 1986 a fire destroyed most of them.
The Timar-Lobras canal is the fundamental basis on the different cultures adaption to a territory where the water regimen varies greatly throughout the year, and during summertime had to carry water to the working fields. In 2007 Lobras was declared to be a site of cultural interest in the category of Historical site in order to protect and preserve the types of asset that are in it.
